WHITE DUNE
ART & DESIGN FROM BALTICS

MILAN DESIGN WEEK 2026
20.04.2026 - 26.04.2026

A Sensory Landscape of Silence and Purity

Experience WHITE DUNE, an immersive collective exhibition curated by The Baltic Vibe, bringing the soul of the North to the heart of Milan.

In 2026, we explore the concept of the "White Dune" not merely as a physical feature of the Baltic coastline, but as a state of mind—a symbol of pause, clarity, and the essential need for openness in an era of constant noise. Through the lens of artists from Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia, we invite you to discover a design culture deeply rooted in the honesty of materials and the ethereal light of the North.

The exhibition winds through the most evocative areas of the Palazzo, from the majestic entrance Hall to the scenic historic staircase. In this context, where period elegance meets contemporary design, the artworks become part of a unique visual and tactile dialogue. As the installation curator, Latvian architect and spatial designer Kevins Kalans will create a ‘White Dune’ installation within the historic staircase area, transforming the concept into an explorable physical space and overseeing every technical and material detail of the path to give concrete form to the entire project.

The soul of the intervention lies in the fusion of art and technological innovation, made possible through the synergy with Glauk Sound. Utilizing cutting-edge acoustic engineering, the surfaces of the artworks and the spaces themselves are transformed into living sound sources, allowing the music to propagate directly through the matter.

The soundscape is entrusted to Olga Melnikova, a Latvian composer and musician, whose research serves as an intuitive bridge toward inner harmony. Her piano variations, inspired by the pristine Baltic nature, are characterized by deep, calm vibrations that invite silence and connection. Her stylistic signature has been recently influenced by her meeting with Lubomyr Melnyk and her study of the resonances of the original Klavins piano in Latvia—an instrument with a pure, touching sonority that gave life to her latest solo album. Her music, integrated into the installation, creates a vibrating organism that redefines the perception of the environment, translating the calm and power of the northern landscape into sound
